The Lernerville Speedway closed out the 2003 season and also opened a new chapter in the facility’s management at the annual awards banquet on Saturday, March 6th. Well there were quite a few tears shed there was also a renewed excitement as Tom Roenigk and Barbara Bauman-Bartley head up the new management team that will be promoting the facility for 2004. Since both Tom and Barb have been around the sport for many years I think they will be able to combine Don Martin’s commitment to excellence with a few new ideas that will make Lernerville Speedway the place to be in 2004!

Dow Carnahan will join forces with Ed Schaefer to bring fans a new sound to the Friday night action. Dow is one of the most knowledgeable and respected announcers in the sport and his voice will be a very pleasant addition for the 2004 season.

Fans will also be entertained by Spanky Hall who will take over the starter’s stand from Kent Michaels. Spanky is a veteran of the Eriez/Stateline circuit and will bring his flamboyant flagging style south for 2004!!

Tom and Barb have been busy working on a schedule that includes the World of Outlaw Sprint Cars and the All-Star Circuit of Champions for Sprint Car fans, the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series and the World of Outlaws Late Models Series for Late Model fans and the BRP Modified Tour Series for Big Block Modified fans.

Perhaps the biggest criticism Lernerville has received in recent years has been the length of the regular Friday night program and I am sure the new management team will work even harder in 2004 to get the fans home at a reasonable hour. After all we all have work to do on those race cars before we head back to our favorite Saturday night track!!

A new enthusiasm has overtaken the grounds of the Lernerville Speedway and the Roenigk/Bartley management team has more improvements and changes planned for the upcoming season. Stop by on Friday, March 26th to witness the rejuvenation of my second home, the Lernerville Speedway, as a new chapter in the speedway’s rich history begins, as always, promptly at 7:30PM.
